Ensure Your Prescriptions Are Not Interrupted
As you may know, the merger of Walgreen’s and Rite-Aid did not move forward to completion, but in the aftermath of the deal being terminated, Walgreen’s did purchase half of Rite-Aid’s stores, almost 2,000 locations, many of them in the northeast and in Maine.
Locally, that means that at some point in near the future, Maine will no longer have any Rite-Aid pharmacies and eventually those who had filled their prescriptions at Rite-Aid will need to transition to an appropriate Walgreen’s pharmacy.
Currently, Cigna, the University of Maine System healthcare plan provider, believes that the Rite-Aid and Walgreen’s data banking will be configured in such a way that previous prescriptions will be honored.
Important Note: Cigna will provide coverage with Walgreen’s customers just as it supported Rite-Aid customers. However, employees should check with their local pharmacy to ensure that the prescription is in place with Walgreen’s moving forward to avoid any interruptions or issues of accessibility.
Depending upon your individual circumstances and location, this may be an exceptionally good time to consider Cigna’s Qwik-Switch feature to home delivery. For more information, please call Cigna Home Delivery Pharmacy at 800-285-4812.
